02.05.04 Skeid - Moss FK

Away game against Skeid from Oslo yesterday. Looking at the fixtures and the bookmakers numbers before the match, we could have expected a close fight between the two teams. But it was never to be. Skeid was allowed to touch the ball a litle bit in the first 10 minutes, but after that it was Moss, Moss, Moss. Last 30 minutes of the first half, Skeid was close to never on the Moss side of the pitch, exept when in panic they tried to clear away the ball. The pay off for Moss came after 41 minutes. Forward Håvard Sakkariassen had a one-on-one situation with a Skeid defender a bit outside the penalty area on the left side. A left-right move and wham bam thank you ma'm, the ball went in the goalies upper left corner. 0-1 at half time.

Second half was 10 minutes old when same Sakkariassen got to the short line out on the right side, gave a low and hard pass to Rob Friend in front of the goal, and Rob made a spectacular goal with his right heel. A real beauty Brazilian style. 0-2.

89 min. Fredriksen, who came in for Sakkariassen in the 81st min, passed his defender and was alone with the Skeid goalie. No mistakes and 0-3.

On injury time Patrice Bernier tried to shoot, but the ball was blocked. In the next duel a Skeid defender tried to hammer the ball away, but Rob Friend stood in the way, blocking the ball and it went with a nice curve over the Skeid goalie and in to the net. Lucky Rob, but still, 0-4.

Every player did a very fine job yesterday. Patrice, with midfield partner Walltin, controlled everything perfect. Walltin, the team captain, take a lot of the defensive responsibility, allowing Patrice to be the more creative force, feeding the forwards with intelligent passes.

Moss, now in second place, meets Sandefjord home next Sunday, I believe. Sandefjord has equal points as Moss, but are behind on goals. Very important game! Start, from Kristiansand, are top of the league after 4 straight wins. They look good, but history shows that they always get a down period in the mid summer. Why? Well, maybe because the city of Kristiansand is a very popular holiday spot, and are flooded with beautiful women in June and July, giving the team youngsters a bad headache after endless beach parties? Just a theory..
