ONANDI LOWE is back in the professional leagues again.

The 32-year-old Portmore United striker has signed a 10-month loan deal with Miami Football Club, a new franchise in the United Soccer League (USL) which was once known as the United States A League.

"This is a great opportunity for me to continue my professional football career," said Lowe. "I'm excited with the prospect of playing with Miami FC in its inaugural season in USL first division."

Just when it appeared Miami FC was tiptoeing into its inaugural season with barely a blip on the local sports radar, along come five player signings likely to capture the attention of soccer aficionados.

In the past week, the new Brazilian-backed United Soccer Leagues franchise announced it had inked deals with Jamaican ''Reggae Boy'' Onandi Lowe, Mario ''El Loco'' Rodriguez of Guatemala, Killian graduate and 2003 MLS first-round pick Diego Walsh of Brazil, Bolivian-American Pedro Power of Braddock High, and Haitian starting defender Stephane Guillame.

OK, so those names don't whet the appetite like David Beckham or Ronaldinho. They're not even on par with Carlos ''El Pibe'' Valderrama, the Fusion's mop-topped hero. But still, they are players with bona fide professional experience, players who will probably be worth the $10 to $15 admission price to see.

The club, South Florida's latest pro soccer experiment, has a press conference called for Tuesday to announce more details for the upcoming season, which begins April 23 against the Montreal Impact at Tropical Park.

Les Timbers de Portland ont fait resiné des contrats à deux joueurs, soit Lee Morrison et Tom Poltl. De plus ils ont engagés un ancien de la MLS qui jouait (peu) avec le Galaxy, Michael Nsien.

De leur coté le Thunder a aussi mis sous contrats deux joueurs de l'an passé, Kevin Friedland et Chris Brisson, ainsi qu'un internationnal Est Timorien, Alfredo Esteves.

Plus au sud le Miami FC a mis sous contrat l'ancien internationnal brésilien Zinho (Crizam Cesar de Oliveira Filho pour les intimes).

Finalement le gardien des Sounders, Preston Burpo, continue de bien faire au camp du Chivas USA, blanchissant le Fire de Chicago 3-0.

Zinho a remporte la coupe du monde de 94... J'aime bien la notice du Wikipedia qui affirme que le joueur né en 67 "était" un footballeur brésillien...
C'est surement le premier finaliste de la coupe du monde a joue en USL.

C'est officiel, Preston Burpo quitte Seattle et s'en va avec Chivas USA. En plus il amène avec lui un autre Sounders, Brent Whitfield.
