MLS in Canada

Message par WLKP »

OK, before we start jut relax. It's a real question.

I have been talking with a few people about MLS moving to the Canadian market. Due to the Toronto so-called Ultras dumping their team the mighty Lynx, better knows as the Impacts farm team  anyways, no doubt that the next team from Canada will be either Vancouver or Montreal. The question was if Montreal was to get an MLS team via a new owner, and the Impact stayed in the USL thus giving Montreal 2 footy teams which do you support???
Would you stay loyal to the Impact and start a local rivary with the new team or dump the Impact and jump on the MLS wagon? or support both...

Funny... I've been asking myself this question this week. Still haven't come up with a clear answer.

If the Impact front office treated it's real fans right instead of putting all on the soccer moms, the choice would become evident.

The real answer is that we will continue to hate Rochester!

But for your question....I believe I can support both...1 or 2 matchs a week, it's not really overtime..

Take 'em all, take 'em all
Put 'em up against a wall and shoot 'em
Short and tall, watch 'em fall
Come on boys take 'em all

So whats going to happen if you play each other? Who do you support? no doubt that the MLS will bring in alot more new fans to the game. So what if a nice rivalry breaks out between the Impact fans and the MLS team? Who's back you got? Also supporting both clubs, wouldn't that kinda feel odd?

For me, i can't see me supporting an MLS team unless it's our team just moving up. If some rich guys moves in and buys a brand new team i can't really see myself supprting that team.

In Rochester that's not really a big problem because our market is much smaller, so we would never get 2 teams. But it wouldn't surprise me if Montreal was the 1st North American city to have 2 footy teams.

It won't happen. Ever.
Either the Impact moves up, or it folds and someone else goes for MLS.
But I honestly cannot imagine someone having the balls to move in next door to Saputo and waving him hello through the kitchen window... unless maybe that funny guy who bought Liverpool and seems to love Montreal (and soccer now too).
If the Impact folds, chances are we're not going to see anything for a while.

I don't know, but I think it will depend of the new owner, if it's the same kind of guy that they've got in Alaves it's sure that I gonna stick with the Impact.

The Impact are a money maker. So if some rich guy came in, and got a new team going for the MLS, why would the Impact owner just fold his money making club?

The Montreal Impact is a non profit organization.
(yes, you're getting your ass whipped by a non profit organization)
