TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced Tuesday the Week 20 Team of the Week for the USL First Division, honoring Montreal’s Greg Sutton as the Player of the Week.

Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton recorded two shutouts this weekend against the Vancouver Whitecaps and Minnesota Thunder. With shutouts in his last four outings, Sutton and the Impact’s scoreless streak is now at 387 minutes.

In a rare Wednesday night match, Montreal hosted the Whitecaps. Antonio Ribeiro scored a goal in the fifth minute and Sutton’s six saves ensured that was all the Impact would need for the win. With the victory, the Impact clinched the USL First Division Regular Season title and the top seed in the 2005 playoffs. Securing the top seed means the Impact will have a bye in the first round.

The Thunder came to town on Sunday and gave the Impact all they could handle for 89 minutes. With time winding down, a Minnesota foul in the box earned Mike Wilson a red card and Mauro Biello calmly stepped up to put the penalty kick in the back of the net past goalkeeper Josh Wicks. Sutton had faced 10 shots and parried away three chances to keep the clean sheet.

Sutton, last year’s league MVP and Goalkeeper of the Year, is in his fifth season with the Impact. He backstopped the Canadian National Team during all three of their 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup matches and earned a shutout for the squad against Northern Ireland in February of this year.
