Moss 0 Mandalskammeratene 1...

We lost todays game against MK. Moss is trying to play possession football, but they need more guts and fighting spirit to win games i 1.div. In first half I would say that Moss had a 60-40 advantage in field play, but it was MK that scored on one of their few real visits on Moss' half.

Patrice played in a more offensive midfield position, as I hoped he would do prior to this game. In second half he had Moss' best opportunity of the game, after a corner-kick. Patrice got the ball in good position, 14-15 m. from MK goal, but his shot was saved by the goalie. Second half was a 90 min. long push against the MK defense, but they weren't lucky, and did not have the right GO to get a better result.

We were waving the Canadian flag i honour of Rob and Patrice, but it did not seem to help I'm afraid.

Take care everyone!

How does the cup works in Norway?
How many teams take part in the competition?

The norwegian cup has got 2 qualifying rounds, where the teams from the lower divisions play to qualify, and then 7 "ordinary" rounds, including the Final, which take place at the national stadium Ullevål in Oslo. The first rounds of the cup is not drawn, but simply set up by the national football federation. And often they set up top teams on away games against really bad amateur teams. This is a very popular thing. Big stars meeting the local heroes of "Smallville" on a field normally used for growing potatoes. Well, not quite like that, but you get the picture. I believe there were 196 teams in the first qualifying round. The teams of the 2 upper divisions enters the cup in round 3. The cup has high status amongst players and spectators. It's like the FA-cup in England. The King is always present at Final, and the winners can call themselves "Norwegian Champions". Winning the cup is not as big as winning the league, but it's a good runner up.

We were just wondering, between Impact supporters, why not create a Canadian cup

Some think that it should be fun
Other stupid because there would be a too big difference between the teams
and too much "no matches" with 8-0 scores

What do you think about it ?

The only thing is sure that we won't have (and don't want) the Queen present for the final :)

I think the Voyageurs Cup is the best solution for now, although it would be nice to include a few CPSL sides... If the Impact beat the LSEQ All-Stars 8-0, I wouldn't like to see them play a regular LSEQ team...

But the 8-0 wins are fun! Even for the loosing team. They get the chance to play against the "big boys", and every now and then, the bomb explodes with a surprising victory for the team from lower levels. It's an annual happening for those weak, amateur teams, to meet the top squads.

I agree with pigfarmer
The problem here is also the fucked calendar (look at "calendrier" pf, you will understand...)

But big teams don't need to compete in the first rounds
And it's always pleasant to play against the "big team"
It's like a present for the little who challenged to go far in the competition

The "underdog" aspect of the cup makes it more interesting. It's not a HUGE surprise if Moss as a 1div. team looses to a 2.div. team, but it is of course embarrassing. Sometimes even premier division teams looses to 2 division teams, and the embarrassement is even worse.. Shame, shame, shame. For the supporters this gives the game a different edge to it. The weaker teams and their supporters has everything to win, and opposite for the higher ranked team.
