TWELVE IMPACT GAMES TO BE BROADCAST LIVE ON CJAD 800

MONTREAL, February 4, 2003 — The Montreal Impact will be hitting the airwaves this summer as a total of 12 Impact games will be broadcast live on Montreal’s English radio station CJAD 800. "We’re very excited to give our fans the opportunity to follow the team live on CJAD," said Montreal Impact President Joey Saputo. "CJAD has been supportive of the Montreal Impact from the very beginning. Last year, we had a great relationship with CJAD as some of our players were regularly on the air during the World Cup. We see this as a natural extension of a long-lasting partnership."

With the Impact, soccer becomes the third professional sport to be showcased on CJAD. The station is already the official voice of the Montreal Alouettes and the Montreal Canadiens.

For CJAD, which broadcast the Impact’s championship final live from Claude-Robillard Stadium back in 1994, the Montreal Impact constitutes a welcome addition to the
fold.

"These are exciting times for the Montreal Impact, coming off a season where the team set a franchise attendance record," said CJAD Sports Director Dino Sisto. "We’re thrilled to join forces with the Impact in order to bring soccer into the homes of all Montreal soccer fans and into the homes of those listening worldwide on the web."

Sisto, who is also the official voice of the Montreal Canadiens, will be handling the play-by-play commentary for Impact games.

Montreal Impact broadcasts on CJAD will kick off May 10th as the Impact will be in Toronto, and will conclude with the last game of the regular season, August 31st, when the Calgary Storm visits the Impact.

The partnership between the Impact and CJAD also includes joint promotional events throughout the season as well as the option of broadcasting two playoff games.

The Impact is also presently negotiating with French station CKAC to broadcast games this upcoming season.

Impact scores broadcast deal with CJAD
'It's a great deal for us,' A-League team boss says of radio station's 12-game package

The Montreal Impact has inked a deal with CJAD Radio-800 that will see the radio station broadcast 12 of the team's A-League soccer games this season.

"It's a great deal for us," Impact president Joey Saputo said yesterday. "CJAD has been with us really since Day 1; they broadcast the 1994 championship game and we've done many deals with the station over the years. This brings even more credibility and exposure to our club and professional soccer in this city."

Saputo said he also expects to conclude a deal with CKAC for French-language broadcasts of all 14 of the club's home games.

CJAD will broadcast six home games and six road games, the first being May 10 when the Impact plays its second game of the season in Toronto. The second broadcast will be the team's home opener at Claude Robillard Stadium against Richmond on May 18. The club opens its season April 26 in Charleston, S.C.

"I don't remember the Impact (of the North American Soccer League in the early 1980s) ever being on radio, so I believe this is a first for professional soccer in Montreal," said CJAD sports director Dino Sisto, who will be doing play-by-play for most games. "We now are the proud owners of three of the four sports properties in the city, and that's great because we're not a sports station, we're an information station."

CJAD also holds broadcast rights to the Canadiens and Alouettes.

The Impact had the league's third-highest attendance last season and the highest in franchise history, averaging 5,174 per game.
