HL:Toronto Lynx send goalkeeper Theo Zagar to Rochester in A-League
sale
TORONTO (CP) -- The Toronto Lynx have sold goalkeeper and captain
Theo Zagar to the Rochester Raging Rhinos.
Zagar holds virtually every team record for goalkeepers including
115 games played, 465 saves, 44 wins and 29.5 shutouts. He has been
named the A-League team's MVP three times, including last season.
"We really hate to see Theo go, but he was in the option year of
his contract and with several teams interested in his services, we
risked not receiving any compensation if we delayed much longer,"
Lynx COO Nicole Hartrell said in a statement.
The CIAU player of the year winner in 1997 at the University of
Toronto, Zagar was taken by the Lynx with their first pick in the
1998 A-League draft.
Lynx head coach Duncan Wilde said he planned to look at several
new 'keepers to replace Zagar in addition to last season's backups
James Kryger and Brian Rowland.
