Newest signings add size to Rochester lineup
(Rochester, NY)… Rochester Raging Rhinos General Manager Chris Economides announced today the signings of forwards Charles Gbeke and Matthew Delicâte to player contracts.
Gbeke started last season with the Toronto Lynx before joining the Montreal Impact for the latter part of the season. The 6’2”, 198-pound forward brings size to the Rhinos lineup, as well as experience. Along with playing stints in France and Brazil, the Ivory Coast native has also seen time with the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Seattle Sounders of the USL First Division. Gbeke tallied the tying goal in the 86th minute against the Rhinos in the rain-soaked match on August 20th at Frontier Field.
Delicâte joins the Rhinos after single-handedly ending the Rhinos season last year. He scored three of the four goals in the 4-2 aggregate goal series leading the Richmond Kickers to the USL First Division Championship. Delicâte spent the 2004 season with Richmond scoring 7 goals and 6 assists for 20 points and the 2005 season scoring 8 goals and 2 assists for 18 points. He was named to the USL Team of the Week four times in 2005. The 6’3”, 190-pound forward was originally a second-round pick of the Rochester Rhinos in the 2004 Collegiate Draft. He is the career leader at Virginia Commonwealth University with 44 goals and 13 assists for 101 points.
The Rhinos continue to reload their roster before moving into their new 17,500 seat stadium next season. PAETEC Park will also be the home of the Rochester Ravens of the W-League (USL) and the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
