Parcontre je ne vois la disparition entière de l'USL. Considérant que cette ligue perd de la valeur, peut-être que la MLS serait intéresser dans faire l'acquisition. Ceci donnerait le control direct de la deuxième et troisième divison à l'USSF.
Selon moi, l'insuccès de l'USL est directement lié à l'emplacement de ses franchises. Aucune équipes dans la région métropolitaine de New York et de Los Angeles, qui se traduit en l'incapacité d'attiré des contracts de télévision important. Il a également une concentration de clubs dans le nord du continent. Une bonne partie du succès de la MLS est lié à sa capacité d'attiré le marché Espagnol concentré dans le sud des États-Unis. La MLS songe également à aller chercher un marché Asiatique.

La D1, elle, c'est une autre question.
Ça risque de s'auto-reléguer en masse en D2, qui deviendra la nouvelle D1. Le gros empêchement pour le moment, c'est les équipes de l'Ouest.

En fait, il fut un temps où on disait carrément première division et deuxième division. Ça aidait à faire la différence.

A real soap opera...February 27th, 2008 (Rochester, N.Y.) – Less than two years after PAETEC Park opened, the Rochester Rhinos soccer team is on the verge of bankruptcy.
The stadium was paid for with $19 million of state taxpayers’ money.
Mayor Robert Duffy said the stadium should never have been built and called for an audit into how tax dollars were spent during construction.
The drama surrounding the team and PAETEC Park began unfolding in late November. Since then, state lawmakers have been silent. 13WHAM News asked several legislators to evaluate their decision to support the project, in light of the current difficulties.
“Obviously it hasn't worked to the degree we hoped it would,” said Assemblyman Joseph Morelle (D-Irondequoit).
The stadium promised to deliver more fans, improve the surrounding neighborhood, and propel the Rhinos into Major League Soccer.
“Given their track record, I think we felt pretty comfortable that this would aid greater success for the franchise and add another attraction to downtown Rochester,” said Morelle.
Assemblyman David Gantt, a key player in getting state funding for the project, declined to be interviewed on camera. He said he threw his weight behind the stadium only after former Mayor Bill Johnson got on board. Without Gantt’s support, the project wouldn’t have moved forward.
“Once there was local support, I did what I had to do,” said Assemblyman David Gantt (D-Rochester).
State Senator Michael Nozzolio (R-Fayette), was one of the stadium’s biggest champions. Over the past few months, 13WHAM placed several calls to his to office. The first two were not returned. A spokesman returned our third call, but declined our request for an on-camera or phone interview.
Nozzolio’s office sent a statement from the senator last week.
“The construction of Paetec Park was fully supported by all members of both the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate representing Monroe County," he said. "Paetec Park remains a regional asset."
Campaign Contributions Play a Role?
From 2000 to 2007, nearly every member of the area’s delegation to Albany received campaign contributions from the Rhinos or team owner Frank DuRoss. DuRoss also gave to Democratic and Republican party committees and former Governor George Pataki.
The Rhinos and DuRoss gave more than $80,000 in political contributions. Area legislators received a total $54,150. Senator Nozzolio’s campaign received $36,275, more than the other legislators combined.
“The really interesting thing is that he got so much and the others did not,” said Syracuse University political science professor Jeffrey Stonecash.
Stonecash said there’s usually no way to prove a connection between campaign donations and lawmakers’ support for a project.
“The only way you'll ever find that out is to get the lawmakers to talk about that,” he said.
Morelle was willing to talk. He got $4,450 in campaign contributions from DuRoss.
“Obviously people who contribute to campaigns do so hopefully because they believe we're contributing to the overall welfare of the community,” he said, adding that he was not influenced by the money.
Gantt, who got $3,050 from DuRoss said over the phone, “You've got to be kidding. I don't care who does what. I do what I think is right.”
Stonecash said the lopsided donations to Nozzolio from the Rhinos and DuRoss are an example of why campaign disclosure reports are important.
“You would presume that a politician would not want to take that much money from them because he would worry about these kinds of stories,” Stonecash said.
Sale Update
Dan Williams, the New Jersey businessman who is leading an investment group trying to buy the Rhinos franchise, said negotiations between his group and the bank that holds the mortgage on PAETEC Park are continuing. Williams said, however, that the deal has to wrap up soon, or the 2008 season is in jeopardy.
“My interest ends at the end of this week, possibly next week,” he said.
Williams said if the sale falls through, it will be time for the group formed by Sam “Soccer Sam” Fantauzzo to step in.

Au plaisir de plusieurs utilisateurs,cest officiel, Rochester est de retour pour 2008...avec quelques surprises.Mais ma question est la suivante...pendant qu'ils attendaient la conclusion de cette histoire...le club ne cest-il pas endetté avec son camp d'entrainement? Si le club n'avait aucune idée d'un possible retour, ont-il commencé a préparer leur joueurs pour la saison malgré la situation du club?

Then he and Clark disappeared behind a wall and ... out walked Clark in his suit but now wearing the Rex "head," a pair of black gloves and holding the bomb, which he diffused.
"We are in the entertainment business, after all," Clark said.
