Croatia have booked their place in Portugal, and were the better team throughout despite being reduced to ten men just before the hour. Pršo was always lively, and his current run of scoring form continued as Slovenia were unable to force a shot on target in the absence of the suspended Šiljak.
Norvège 1 – 0 (1)
Espagne 2 – 3 (5) 34' Raúl 49' Vicente 57' Etxeberría
Spain consign their laboured UEFA EURO 2004™ qualification campaign to the past, coming good when it matters by defeating Norway 3-0 and collecting a 5-1 aggregate victory to assure their place in the final tournament in Portugal. The inspirational Valerón is involved in all three goals, setting up skipper Raúl for the first - his 35th international goal in the 34th minute - then playing in the impressive Vicente for the second before beginning the move which allows Etxeberría to round off proceedings. It is a class display from the visitors and one they will want to be able repeat on various occasions next summer.
Turquie 0 – 2 (2) 20' Ilhan Mansiz 64' Hakan Sükür
Lettonie 1 – 2 (3) 66' Laizans 78' Verpakovskis
Remarkable scenes here in Istanbul. Latvia, who have never before qualified for a FIFA World Cup or UEFA European Championship, will be in Portugal next summer. Goals from Laizans and Verpakovskis enabled the visitors to come back from 2-0 down and take a draw against a Turkish side who had looked well-placed to qualify. Verpakovskis's winner in the first leg proved the difference between the two teams, and sealed an extraordinary result for Latvia.
Pays de Galles 0 - 0 (0)
Russie 0 - 1 (1) 22' Evseev
Russia ultimately held firm to earn a place in Portugal, having dominated early on to score through Evseev. Giggs hit the post and Wales had the better of the second half, but even then Jones had to make saves and his nation's run without qualification stetches close to 50 years, while Russia travel to Portugal this summer.
Pays-Bas 0 - 6 (6) 13' Sneijder 32' Ooijer 37' Van Nistelrooij 51' Van Nistelrooij 65' Frank de Boer 67' Van Nistelrooij
Écosse 1 – 0 (1)
The Netherlands are celebrating, the Amsterdam ArenA a sea of orange shirts and confetti now that their place in EURO 2004™ is confirmed. They were just too good for Scotland tonight.
Scotland came into this game hoping to keep a clean sheet or nicking an away goal that could have been so vital. But the Bravehearts have been humbled here by an outstanding Dutch display. After talk of discord in the camp, Dick Advocaat's men have silenced anyone who questioned their team spirit in emphatic style.
