Wales set Racecourse date


International football will return to Wrexham after a five-year break when Wales play Canada at the end of May.
The last time Wales played at the Racecourse Ground was in 1999 against Switzerland - a European Championship qualifying match they lost 2-0.

Since then - manager Mark Hughes' second outing in charge of Wales - the Racecourse has fallen foul of stadia seating rules for competitive matches.

The match will be held on Sunday 30 May, three days after Wales face Norway.

It is a busy period for Hughes and his players as they prepare for September's World Cup qualifiers.

As well as travelling to Oslo to face Norway on Thursday, 27 May at the Ullevaal Stadium, Wales face Hungary at the Ferenc Puskas Stadium in Budapest on 31 March, with a trip to play Latvia on 18 August also confirmed.

"These friendly games are designed for me to look at what strength in depth we have," Hughes said.

Budapest beckons Wales

"Both Norway and Canada will give us a stern challenge. It will also offer the coaching staff and me the chance to have a closer look at players on the fringe of first team action."

Wales began their World Cup qualifying build-up last month with an impressive 4-0 win over Scotland at the Millennium Stadium.

Wales will start their World Cup qualifying campaign in September with a trip to Azerbaijan, before facing the other opponents in Group Six - Northern Ireland, England, Poland and Austria.

J'aurai aimé mieux voir ce match disputé au Canada...mais on prend ce qui passe...
