As I feared, Forward came to town looking for one point. Surprise is, they got away with it. We started the game by letting Forward do pretty much whatever they wanted, we lacked aggression, pace and above all, skill. We created one shot at their goal in 45 minutes, impressive, no? Forward scored the first goal after 35 minutes, a stupid penalty that our keeper was at fault for.
I hoped that the second half would be better from us, but initially it looked just the same as the first half. We made a substitution with 18 minutes to go, we started playing with three forwards and apparently that what was needed. We started playing quite well now, our african wonderkid Atiku leading the way. He made a nice run, one of their defenders had to bring him down and a penalty for us was a fact. We scored and by now I had at least some hope that we could win this if we only had time for more scoring.
Sure enough, with five minutes to go we scored again, Atiku struck a thunderous shot that hit the post, one of our forwards was at hand to take care of the rebound.
A normal team would have cruised through to the end but not our sad lot. Forward got a free kick just outside of our penalty area, just seconds left on the clock. Our keeper pulled of a fantastic save but only managed to push the ball onto the bar, the ball fell to one of their players who scored in an empty net. Just after the game restarted the final whistle was blown and all hope for any promotion was gone, at least for me.
Braz substitute did OK, but I'd prefer it if he came back for our next game. We are playing monday again, away to Gefle. I'll decide later if I'm going, right now I just feel too gutted to even think about it.
