Well, there are some people who enjoy following their team, no matter what...who cares I had to pay over 700+ dollars of my own money(a feat considering I'm in highschool) to see the only 2 home games I've been to, and will probably drop another such amount to see 1 game when they confirm the olympic stadium. You, Juju, are obviously a better fan than myself or Raven, since you still live in Montreal.

No one here qualifies as one of those anglophones. The only person who really made a stink about languages is you. Most songs are in french, I find it hard to believe you've never noticed that.

There's no one telling you or anyone else to speak white, so you can relax.

My opinion on the language laws: They are fair, but enforcement is usually overboard.

-Je me souviens des félicitations pour les chants en français faite par une spectatrice de l'impact.
-Je me souviens aussi d'un groupe qui crie allez l'impact plutôt que let's go impact comme c'est la coutume au Québec.

On devrait mettre le spanish comme seule langue officielle du Canada, this way pu de chicane for nothing.

To comment on one of the many false claims by Juju, one does indeed hear French chants in English Canadian cities both by the Voyageurs at Canada games and even the TFC supporters. We make it a sport to make how fun of how bad the TFC fans sing their French chants but they do sing in French nontheless.

The majority of UM chants are in French as others have mentioned and the percentage of English chants seems to be pretty reflective of the percentage of UM members, Impact supporters and Montrealais who are English. However, when we are going to sing stuff insulting the supporters/players of the teams we are playing against it is also important that we sing it in a language they understand and the vast majority of teams we play against are English. The "Vallow you swallow" chant would lose all effect if we sung it or something equivalent in French and for all Vallow knows (I am assuming probably correctly that he doesn't speak French) we could be singing, "We love you Vallow." It is useless to sing anti-TFC chants in French if the majority of TFC fans and players can't understand what we are singing. U-sector also made a French language tifo against us in Toronto for a similar reason. That is also the reason why we sang in Spanish against the central American teams we played even though few of us are fluent in that language.

The songs we are singing about us and the Impact should be in our languages, mostly French with a few English songs while those about the opposing teams and fans should be in their languages.

I thought this topic had a good chance of fadding away. I was rong, if what we are really talking about is using MTL's predominant languages, then we would have to include Portuguese, Créole, Polish, Italian, Spanish, Roumanian, Russian, Arabic languages, Asian languages and the list goes on. Thats alot of minoritys to satisfy.
