Les Emerald City Supporters tentent de sauver le nom et les couleurs de leur club. Je crois qu'il est évident que nous comprenons tous (ok, sauf peut-être napule) leur désarroi à l'idée de voir leur club être renommé et affublé d'un sobriquet ridicule comme Alliance ou Republic...

Pour donner un coup de main, il suffit de s'inscrire (en suivant le lien ci-dessous) pour pouvoir voter. Utilisez le zipcode de Seattle, 98101. Ça vous prend aussi une adresse de courriel valide pour recevioir un lien vers le bulletin de vote.

Je vous copie/colle le message original, parce qu'il possède des infos fort inquiétantes qui peuvent expliquer cette idée de Montréal FC :

My city, Seattle, will be entering the MLS in 2009. The club is having a “name the team” vote on their website. The owners of the new MLS club submitted some names to the MLS front office a few months back. Among them was Seattle Sounders.

The name Seattle Sounders is very region specific, it is a derivative of the Puget Sound (a large body of water in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States), and has meant soccer to Seattle's fans since the NASL days (1974). The name has survived over the years as the USL-1 club (Division 2) in the city and still plays under that name.

The MLS front office denied the Seattle ownership groups choices, and the commissioner spoke directly about the Seattle Sounders name.

"...I think there is tremendous history there and a very passionate fan base but I am thinking about what this team is going to be 20 years from now or 50 years from now because that's how long team brand names should exist."

“I am very focused in trying to have our teams look forward as opposed to look back.”

The three names that they have allowed to be put on the ballot are

Seattle F.C.
Seattle Alliance
Seattle Republic

None of these names resonate with the people of the region, or soccer fans that followed the game in North America through the years.
After a huge fan and media outcry, they have allowed for a write in option for the fans that were passionate about another name.
As we all know, winning the write in ballot does not carry the best of odds.

I am a member of a growing Ultra culture in Seattle that in the last few weeks has been rallying the people of Seattle, and true supporters worldwide, to get behind the Seattle Sounders name, and write it in on the ballot.

We only have a couple of days, as the voting ends at midnight (PST) March 31st.

Let’s send a message to the MLS Front Office that tradition and history mean something in this sport, and that manufactured clubs will not be tolerated.

Tiens j'ai une idée. On devrait inventer trois noms pour remplacer Major League Soccer (parce que bon, en plus d'être un nom débile, ça a fait son temps, déjà 12 ans d'existence) et faire voter les gens. Ensuite on enverrait ça à Garber.

Le comédien américain Drew Carey a mentionner entant que propriétaire minoritaire que les "Sounders" vont être sous "membership". Il parait que ils pourront voter a tous les quatre ans pour le Directeur d'équipe.

Selon la rumeur qui court à Seattle, un compromis aurait été atteint dans la saga du nom da la franchise de MLS.
L'équipe se nommerait Seattle Sounders FC.

Ce serait une grosse victoire, ça.
Pas juste pour eux, mais pour nous aussi, car on passerait inévitablement par le même tunnel pour se rendre à la MLS.

Pour l'anecdote, les Emerald City Supporters appellent l'équipe Seattle Sounders FC depuis des années.
