Defending Champion Montreal Travels To Richmond This Sunday
Kickers Celebrate Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo

RICHMOND, VA – (Wednesday, May 4, 2005) – Richmond Kickers are pleased to host 2004 defending champion Montreal Impact this Sunday, May 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the University of Richmond Stadium. Register to win a gift certificate to Nesbit Salon valued at $225 and the first 200 moms through the gate will receive a carnation courtesy of Selecta 1320 Spanish radio and The Flower Market. In addition, enjoy Mexicana salsa music with the band “Vagabundo” during the Kickers Cinco de Mayo celebration. Band starts and gates open at 4:30 p.m.

Montreal is favored to appear in the 2005 USL First Division Championship finals again this year after finishing the 2004 season in first place with a 17-6-5 record. Finishing just two points behind the Impact in the regular season standings, the Kickers were responsible for two of Montreal’s six losses last season for a series record of 2-1-0. Both teams are coming off wins from last weekend when the Kickers defeated the Toronto Lynx, 2-1, at home while the Impact shut out Puerto Rico, 3-0, on the road. Richmond will be the Impact’s second stop in Virginia this week as Montreal will travel to the Virginia Beach Mariners on Saturday before venturing to Richmond on Sunday for their fourth of six consecutive games away.

“We are excited to play the reigning champion,” comments Richmond Kickers Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw. “Montreal is off to a great start and we know it will be our toughest challenge so far. We are confident and have been in great form of late. It should be a wonderful match-up.”

Players To Watch
Kickers: Richmond forward Matthew Delicate continues to lead the Kickers and the league in points (8) and goals (4) after recording his fourth goal in four games with the game-winner over Toronto last weekend. Midfielder Joey Worthen tallied his second goal of the season last weekend with the equalizer, thirty seconds after Toronto’s goal. He is now tied for third in the league in goals (2) and sixth in points (4). Defender Peter Luzak earned USL Team of the Week honors for his solid play in the 2-1 win over the Lynx while goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale remains at the top of the leader board in goalkeeper wins (3) and is ranked third in saves with 14.

Impact: Montreal boasts and impressive roster again this season with the majority of the 2004 Championship squad and all four All-League First Team selections returning. 2004 MVP and Goalkeeper of the Year Greg Sutton returns after recording a 0.54 goals against average last season, allowing just 14 goals in 25 games played. So far this season, he is ranked fourth in the league with 11 saves, including one shut out. In addition, 2004 Defender of the Year Gabe Gervais returns as well as All-League Second Team selection and former Kickers defender Nevio Pizzolitto (1999). Forward Kevin Wilson tallied two of the Impact’s three goals versus Puerto Rico last weekend earning USL First Division Team of the Week honors, as he combines with Montreal’s 2004 leading scorer Eduardo Sebrango up top.

Vous aurez les images ce soir à Sports 30 et à RIS.

Malheureusement, il nous est impossible de les envoyer avant 22h, puisque c'est tout ce que la télé locale avait à nous offrir comme heure de transmission satellite.

De toute façon, Sports 30 devrait suivre le match de baseball à RDS ce soir. Le bulletin devrait être autour de 23h.

Ils ont répondu "Non, évidemment !"

Le type aurait alors dû répliquer "Mais pourquoi vous commencer à jouer à Montréal seulement dans deux semaines ?"

Parce qu'on est plus intelligent...

On profite de votre manque de préparation en début de saison pour aller vous battre chez vous...

Puis lorsque vous venez jouer à Montréal plus tard, on est imbattable à domicile.

Les stats sont en ligne

- Encore une fois, c'était match nul au repos (euh... normal pour un 0-0)
- Deuxième fois en quatre matches qu'on termine en supériorité numérique
- On en est à 4 matches sans défaite, 339 minutes sans encaisser
- 8 joueurs différents ont déjà pris un carton jaune (et même deux dans le cas de Grande)
