After each game, the local paper - Moss Avis, rates the players with points as I have described for you ealier in the season. Out of the 30 matches during the season, it is the 24 best matches that count. Patrice collected 126 points out of his 24 counting matches, giving him an average of 5.25 points per game. Runner up was the supporters choice for "man of the year", Vidar Martinsen with 119 points collected over 23 played matches. but even if you divide his points with 23 instead of 24, you get an average score that's less than Bernier's. This system favours the players with more than 24 mathes during the season, since they can eliminate their "bad" games. but that's fair enough.
This is nothing less than a triumph for Patrice, 'cause I can clearly remember the paper being a bit uncertain of Patrice's quality when he was trying out for the team last winter. Comments like "OK, but not good enough" comes to my memory. I'd better go back to my early posts on the forum and check out what I wrote at the time.
Anyway. Congratulations to Patrice Bernier!
Rob Frend didn't reach the top 5, but he was the top scorer of the team with 7 goals in the league. Maybe not what we, and he was hoping for prior to the season, but nobody did it better....
